Awareness Days February 2026

Each month we dedicate our PSHE lesson across the school to a special Awareness day.

This month, students will be learning about LGBTQ+ history month. This will include an in-depth look at what the past has been like for the LGBTQ+ community, how this community has been historically (and are still in some areas of the world) persecuted for who they love, raising awareness about prejudice and promoting the welfare of the LGBTQ+ community within our school environment.

Awareness Day January 2026

Each month we dedicate our PSHE lesson across the school to a special Awareness day.

This month we focused on Veganuary. Students learnt about different plant-based diets, and their similarities and differences. We talked about how the vegan diet can positively impact a person’s health as well as the impact our societal food choices have on our environment. We also looked at the challenges that people who chose a vegan diet might face in day-to-day life, and considered why someone might chose to adopt a vegan diet.

This topic supports the Mental wellbeing strand of the Relationships Education and Health Education statutory guidance for PSHE.

Community Involvement

Some of our Students at our Chard Centre recently wrote to our local supermarket to see if they could help us out with any fruit & veg.  Tesco phoned school and spoke to the staff at Chard and have agreed to donate a box once a week!   This is the first box received and we are very grateful.  Our students persuasive writing worked!!  Well Done!
