Happy Christmas from staff and students at South Somerset Partnership School!

Dear Parents,

School closes for the Christmas break on Friday 18th December 2020 and we re-open to students on Wednesday 6th January 2021.  A member of staff will phone you on Monday 4th January to discuss  arrangements for your child’s return on 6th.

If your child or a family member in the same household tests positive for Coronavirus during the Christmas holidays, please advise us by calling the Head Teacher on 07880 042853 or leave a message on the school answerphone, 01935 410793.

Our most recent Ofsted was in May 2018, and we were pleased with the result of this visit. Highlights for me include:

“You make sure that expectations are high. Lessons are about learning and trying your best. The learning environment is filled with positive prompts and messages to pupils.”

“You expect learning to be interesting, relevant and fun. As a result, pupils learn to apply their skills while doing practical activities that they enjoy.”

I believe, these quotes demonstrate our absolute commitment to ensuring all our pupils are able to access a high quality education, regardless of what has gone before.

Our vision remains strong; in the words of the poet Maya Angelou:  ‘My vision is not that you survive, but that you thrive with passion, compassion, humour and style’.

South Somerset Partnership School is proud to become an approved centre with NCFE-enabling us to deliver a range of technical and vocational Level 1 and 2 Qualifications for our students.

Team Triple T (Terrific Testing Team) at SSPS is ready to go! Our new mobile testing station is kitted out ready for testing staff and students. Let’s beat this together!

A big thank you to Noodles Ices for visiting all our school sites this week. Staff and students were very grateful for the delicious ice creams to end the term with a smile!

Our Middle Years students have been busy this week raising funds by selling hand made Christmas cards. They then went shopping to buy food which they donated to The Lord’s Larder in Yeovil. We are so proud of their empathy towards others and good old fashioned Christmas spirit!

We have been making the most of the crisp December weather at SSPS with an Outdoor Ed lesson at Durdle Door in Dorset. Students played games on the beach outrunning the waves, and did some beach-combing to find interesting things to paint later in class.
